Nelson is the oldest of the children at IAA. He was one of the first 10 to arrive. IAA was originally only taking children from 2-7 years old but through a string of events and the grace of God, Nelson was chosen closer to the age of 10. This “happening” ended up to our advantage as Nelson has proven to be a true role model to the other children. From the very beginning he stepped up to the plate as the big brother of the house earning the nick name “little man”. He has shown the others maturity always trying to make the effort to complete the tasks ahead of him quickly and with a good attitude. He has also been an example of maturity in his relationship with God. Often coming up with questions that anyone could see he has been chewing on for quit some time. He has also pushed himself to do his very best in school sometimes being a little too hard on himself when he has fallen short of his goals. He wants to be a pediatrician when he grows up and realizes that the only way it will happen is if he studies hard now. His motivation behind becoming a doctor is more than having a good job when he grows up. When asked, his response was “I love children and I want to help them”. He has already proven himself by organizing a trip during his break from school to go visit a refugee camp bringing much needed blankets, clothing and other needed items. Nelson can no longer be called “little man” as he is now officially a man according to his Kenyan culture after having completed his “passage into manhood” this past December. He graduated from primary school and entered into secondary school (High School).

"... He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them." Mark 10:16
